People with a passion for education rights, working with children

and raising awareness of the plight of child refugees!





The School Bus Project is currently looking for volunteers in the UK who can invest 3-4 hours per week for at least six months as one of our SchoolFriends Ambassadors.

Our project is a registered charity with more than five years of experience working in the field to support refugee education programmes for all ages, but particularly for children.

What are SchoolFriends ambassadors and what do they do?

SBP SchoolFriends ambassadors are volunteers for our charity, trained and supported by the SBP Programme Lead, Jade Lee, to promote and deliver our programme in UK primary schools. The SF programme is designed to engage and inform learners, as well as to generate income.

Who can be a School friends ambassador?

We are looking for candidates who have

  • Valid Disclosure and Barring checks

  • A good understanding refugee issues

  • Experience and/or training in the primary or secondary education sector, for example:

- Part time teachers or lecturers

- PGCE and BA ed students

- LSAs and TAs

- Learning Mentors and Tutors

- Qualified childminders

What does the structure of the role look like?

  • Reports directly to the SBP UK programme lead.

  • Provided with all programme resources; trained in delivery of the assemblies/workshops.

  • Contacts schools in their local area to identify appropriate partners.

  • Delivers assemblies and workshops.

  • Acts as point of contact between schools in a designated area and SBP programme lead.

Is there any renumeration?

The role is voluntary, but SF ambassadors will have travel expenses reimbursed.

We would like appoint at least 10 SchoolFriends Ambassadors by May 1st, 2020.

While schools remain closed, we will use the time to provide SFAs with comprehensive training.
